Known as Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008 and earlier versions, the release of the previous version of Windows Server 2012 and R2 has resulted in the name Remote Desktop Services introduced. RDSs provide end users with remote mobility and access to data and functionality so they can run business-critical applications regardless of server location. With Remote Desktop Services 2012, Microsoft is providing a versatile platform for remote access to Windows and graphical desktops.
